About Karen

It was on a warm spring night in 2018 when Karen found her spiritual calling in Bali while attempting to practise Balinese massage on her hotel bed. She had just undergone a major period of upheaval in her life with the recent loss of her dad to cancer, a broken heart from a breakup, and a sense of restlessness at work where she didn’t feel like she belonged nor that she was fulfilling any purpose.

In a nutshell, at age 40 —single, broken, and lost— she found herself at a crossroad in life. It was in that quiet moment of contemplation that led her to spontaneously book a flight to Bali to take up the massage course that she had always wanted but so conveniently swiped away with a “next time I’ll do it” excuse. It was also in a quiet moment of contemplation in her hotel room that night that she heard a calling so strangely calming and beautiful in its simplicity— “Meditate. It will help.”

And so, she did. Two years on, with her heart sufficiently healed and armed with a newfound appreciation of life, she made the decision to exit the corporate jungle and instead follow her heart to embark on an unknown but deeply satisfying life path to ‘heal ourselves, then heal others’.

Karen is a Reiki Master Teacher who trained in the tradition of Usui Shiki Ryoho under Joanne Thia of Simply Reiki. Having seen how her life has transformed after learning to self-heal through Reiki, she is fiercely passionate in sharing this beautiful gift to the world through her healing work, teachings, and writings. As a certified Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher, she is also a firm advocate of the mindfulness practice that she believes more people could benefit from. In her free time, she enjoys growing and talking to her plants and vegetables along the HDB corridor, morning walks in the park barefooted, and takes pride in living a monastic lifestyle in a secular world.

About Healer's Lodge

Healer’s Lodge is the vision that manifested from my beautiful experience that night. It is really an ongoing journey of exploration and experiencing of this miracle we call life. It is a sanctuary to heal and be healed (really, there is no separation). It is a community where we hold space for one another, sometimes just in silence. It is an invitation for us to learn, grow and connect as one.

More than anything, it is a space where we come home to ourselves and remember the divine love that we all came from.

As a repository of resources which focuses on mindfulness and the Reiki practice, I hope you will find one or some of them useful for you in your healing journey. Be it fortifying your belief and resolve, finding encouragement and inspiration, feeling comfort and joy, or simply, just a better understanding and appreciation of yourself and this world that we are in—the gift of life is available to all of us—right here, right now.
